Memphis is the best!

Memphis gets a bad rap in the media for its crime rate, but it is truly a beautiful city filled with amazing people.  Memphis has a rich history as a music mecca. It’s the birthplace of the Blues, R&B, Rock & Roll—American history on every street corner.  Plus, we host the World Barbecue Fest every year in Memphis, so there is that!

But my favorite part of living here is the lush greenery that carpets the countryside and dots the neighborhoods. Imagine driving down a city street and then, boom: woods! with all manner of creatures walking through them.  A little ways past and its concrete and donut shops. I still marvel at this. Sometimes, I am tempted to stop on the side of the road and just walk off into the woods and explore this unknown world. But then, reality kicks in and I drive on.

I have plenty of opportunities to explore in the woods around my house when I take Baldwin for his walks. We know the flora and fauna there and they know us.  I do my best mental writing there. I feel at peace in these woods and that is a gift beyond measure.
